The Story

The first time I ever paid full attention to the ukulele being played was in 2006 through this song: "My Guitar Gently Weeps" played by Jake Shimabukuro. Next when we were in Hawaii in 2007, I sat down for a free Ukulele lesson in the Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu. I loved the sound of the instrument so much that I brought one back from there. Ever since I am in an awestruck mode at what this seemingly unassuming instrument is capable of.

Initially I started off learning how to play from Instructional DVDs of Ralph Shaw and other Online tutorials. Eventually in October 2008 I found a great Musician and Ukulele Player Rodney Takahashi and started taking regular lessons. I go to Japan Town in Downtown San Jose once a week and learn the art of playing solos and melody on the Ukulele along with different rhythm style patterns. Fortunately no singing is involved.
